This is the receipt-level breakdown of our Orlando (more on Orlando Summer vacation deals) trip last summer. I kept the Venmo receipts, the restaurant printouts, everything. The total after four nights was $487 for a family of four. Here's how every dollar spent.

Grand Total

$487 for four nights, four people, Orlando.

The biggest cost savings came from the vacpack ($199 vs $1,200+ for comparable hotel), the full kitchen (eliminated 3 meals out per day), and skipping Disney/Universal theme parks entirely (would have added $800+ for a day of tickets).

If you want to replicate this trip, book an Orlando family vacpack, pack a cooler, and skip the theme parks for at least this trip. Your credit card will thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include Disney tickets?

No. Adding Disney would have added $500-$800 for a single day for 4 people. We did CityWalk + pool + beach instead.

Is $487 really the total?

Yes — every receipt is in the table. Nothing hidden.

Can this work in peak summer?

Summer prices on vacpacks are similar to off-peak. Flights (if flying) go up 30-50% in summer. We drove.

What about parking at the resort?

Included at Westgate Orlando. No daily parking fee.

Where did you grocery shop?

Publix — there's one right off International Drive, 5 minutes from the resort.

Is the resort pool kid-friendly?

Yes. Westgate Lakes has 5 pools including a family pool with kiddie area.

Would you do anything differently?

Pack more groceries day one to avoid the second trip. Would have saved $15 and 30 minutes.

Can I go without Universal CityWalk?

Sure — there's also Pointe Orlando, a free-to-walk shopping complex with restaurants and a small cinema.

Is Cocoa Beach worth the drive?

For a half-day at the beach, absolutely. 1 hour drive each way. Free to park most public access points.

How much to add one theme park day?

Universal 4-pack single-day $496 + dining $100 + parking $30 = ~$625 added. More than our whole trip budget.
