The 4 Cheapest Months to Book a Vacpack (And Why)

By The VacationDeals.to TeamApril 21, 20265 min read

Vacpack prices don't really move — $59 is $59 whether you book in July or January. What changes is inventory volume and bonus inclusions. These four windows consistently have the biggest selection and best extras.

January (2nd-3rd Week)

The first week after New Year is still premium. But January 8-22 is absolutely dead for travel demand, which means resorts are desperate to fill rooms. $59 Orlando (browse Orlando vacation deals Memorial Day Weekend) (more on Orlando Spring Break vacation deals) (more on Orlando Summer vacation deals), $79 Vegas, $99 Gatlinburg (more on Gatlinburg Summer vacation deals) — all available, all with frequent upgrade bonuses. Current January deals.

Early February

February 1-14 before Valentine's traffic picks up. Similar dynamics to January. Ski destinations premium; beach and theme-park destinations cheap.

Late August / Early September

After July 4th/August peak, before Labor Day, the 2-3 weeks leading up to Labor Day are a dead zone. Schools starting up, people saving for fall. Inventory is abundant.

First Week of December

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Literally the lowest-demand week of the year for most destinations. Christmas travelers haven't started; Thanksgiving travelers have gone home. Perfect window for a pre-holiday escape.

Secondary Good Windows

  • Mid-October (except Gatlinburg) — post-Halloween, pre-Thanksgiving
  • Early-mid March (except spring-break destinations)
  • Mid-May before Memorial Day
  • First week of June before school's out

What to Avoid

Avoid:

  • Thanksgiving week (Wed-Sun) — premium
  • Christmas week (Dec 23-Jan 1) — peak of peak
  • July 4th week — peak summer
  • 2 weeks around Easter — spring break premium
  • Mardi Gras week (New Orleans) — peak local
Pro Tip: If your flexible on dates, tell the resort agent "I need 3 nights anywhere in January or February." They'll find you the lowest-priced week with bonus inclusions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do vacpack prices actually go down in these months?

Is early December really that empty?

Yes — December 1-15 is the lowest-demand window of the year for most markets except Branson (Christmas lights).

Does this apply internationally?

Cancun and Caribbean peak season is December-April. Mexican Pacific (PV, Cabo) has similar timing. Shoulder season is May-November.

Usually yes — flight demand tracks travel demand. January can have 50-70% lower flight costs than July on same route.

For flexible dates yes. If specific dates needed, book 30-45 days ahead for best selection.

Can I find last-minute deals in January?

Is February an okay honeymoon window?

Yes for Caribbean (peak season there). Florida can be chilly mornings. Cancun/PV are perfect.
