What to Pack for a Vacpack Presentation (That Makes Exit Faster)

By The VacationDeals.to TeamApril 21, 20264 min read

After three vacpacks, I've figured out the packing list that makes the 90-minute presentation go smoother. Here's what actually helps.

1. A Paper Notebook

Not your phone — a physical notebook. Take notes during the pitch. You look engaged and thoughtful, not dismissive. Reps don't push harder on notebook-takers. And when the pitch goes over time, you can pointedly close the notebook and say "I think I have what I need. I'm ready to head out."

2. Your Phone's Alarm

Set it for 90 minutes from your presentation start time. When it goes off, announce: "That's my 90-minute commitment." Stand up, pack your notebook, move toward the exit.

Don't apologize for the alarm. Don't silence it quickly. Let it ring audibly. The implicit message is "we had a 90-minute agreement and time's up."

3. A Clearly-Stated Dollar Ceiling

Before the pitch starts, mentally set your absolute ceiling: "I will not spend more than $0 today on ownership." Having a specific (even zero) ceiling keeps you from being rhetorically painted into a corner.

"What if it was $5,000?" No.

"What if it was $1,000 with trade-in?" No.

"What if it was $500?" No.

The number is zero. Hold the line.

4. A Printed Confirmation of Your Vacpack Deposit Refund Policy

Print the page from the resort's website that shows "deposit refunded upon completion of preview tour." Bring it. If the rep or manager makes any noise about not refunding the deposit if you leave early, point to the printed policy.

Pro Tip: Ask for the signed "no-purchase" acknowledgment before you leave. This is what triggers the deposit refund. Photograph it.

5. A Partner Who's Not On Their Phone

If you attend as a couple, neither of you should be on your phone during the pitch. It looks rude to the rep (which is fine) but also gives the rep a pivot to focus only on the engaged partner. Both of you engaged, both of you politely declining at the end.

6. Breakfast

Do the presentation after eating. Hungry travelers are easier to rhetorically manipulate.

7. Water Bottle

Keep one handy. Pitches are drying. Hydrated = clear-thinking.

8. A Follow-Up Plan

Know your post-presentation plan: pool, beach, whatever. Having somewhere to be after 90 minutes helps you exit firmly on time.

Apply these tactics on your next Orlando, Vegas, or Cancun vacpack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring a tape recorder?

Most resorts prohibit recording. Paper notes only.

Is the alarm trick rude?

It's firm but not rude. The 90-minute time is contractual.

What if the rep takes the alarm negatively?

They shouldn't. If they do, politely note the contractual time commitment and proceed to exit.

Do I need to stay for the full 90 minutes?

Yes if you want the deposit refund. Most resorts enforce the time minimum contractually.

Can I leave at 75 minutes?

Sometimes. Ask if you can sign the no-purchase acknowledgment early. Many reps will if you've engaged genuinely.

Is asking for the printed refund policy confrontational?

Not when done matter-of-factly before the pitch starts. It sets clear expectations.

What if my partner and I disagree mid-pitch?

Ask for a 2-minute break to step outside. Align with your partner privately. Return with unified no.

Can I bring kids into the presentation?

No. Supervised childcare is provided at most resorts. Ask at check-in.

What if the presentation is outdoors (Mexico resort)?

Same rules apply. Bring sunglasses and water. Alarm still works.

Should I wear something specific?

Casual but not swimwear. Resort-casual makes you look like a serious consumer, not a disengaged tourist.
